Introduction to Osgood-Schlatter Disease
Osgood-Schlatter disease, also known as tibial tubercle apophyseal traction injury, is a common condition that affects the knees of growing adolescents. It is characterized by pain and swelling just below the kneecap, specifically where the patellar tendon inserts into the tibial tubercle. This condition is primarily seen in active children and adolescents, especially those involved in sports or other activities that require frequent jumping, running, or kneeling.
