The role of fiber in our diet cannot be understated. While it may not be the most glamorous nutrient, it plays a vital role in maintaining our overall health and well-being. Fiber is found in plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Unlike other nutrients, fiber cannot be digested by our bodies. Instead, it passes through our digestive system, providing numerous benefits along the way.Fiber can be classified into two types: soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber dissolves in water and forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract. Insoluble fiber, on the other hand, does not dissolve in water and adds bulk to our stool.
